The "gym" is a small room with a couple treadmills, an elliptical, a couple stationary bikes, basic weight machines, and no fans.

Almost every time I go, I see The Biker. He's there when I arrive, and still there when I leave. I'm usually in there for at least an hour, so I'm estimating this guy is in there anywhere from 1 to 14 hours.

The only piece of equipment I have ever seen this guy use is the stationary bike, which explains why he is The Biker.

He wears shorts with a 1/4 inch inseam. I've been dying to ask him where he gets them, because all of my running shorts go halfway to my knees, and I've been thinking I should sex up my workout routine. He also wears sweatbands (headband and wristbands), and a tank top. Not just a sleeveless shirt, the kind where the sides hang down so low you can see nips.

He also brings a backpack. I have never seen him remove anything from this, but he always has it, and its always very full looking. Keep in mind that this is an apartment complex gym, that people walk to from their 15-feet-away homes. I bring my keys and a water bottle. I can't even come up with enough stuff that I would feel the need to bring that would Fill A Backpack.

The stretches. There is about three square feet of open floor space in this room, and boy does this guy take advantage of it. I have never seen a man bend like this, and it makes me really uncomfortable. Keep in mind the short shorts. Again, 15-feet-away apartments. I usually wait until I get back to my apartment to do any bending over or spreading my legs.

So now I bet <STRIKE>you've lot your appetite</STRIKE> you'd love to see some food pics.

Apple cinnamon flax waffle, morningstar farms sausage, scrambled eggs with broccoli, strawberries, syrup.

Leftover stuffed pork chop and broccoli.

Veggie hot dog and salad.

On another note, I really want to use wordpress, because I like being able to have separate pages for recipes and stuff. I downloaded it, but I have no clue where to go from there. So, if anyone has done this and can walk me through it, I would be really happy. And I would probably even start posting consistently...

The Rasterbator

The other nght Chris had a couple of beers. Then he Rasterbated on the wall.

He used up all of the black ink. Turns out, rasterbating is an expensive habit. I could keep going, but I'll stop.

This was hanging in our hall. After a minor argument, it's now hanging in the garage.

She's been here for hours. I know, because I've been watching her from the window. Probably doesn't help that she's talking on her cell phone the whole time she's distributing mail. Can't be as productive with one hand...

I made this amazing spinach-asparagus quiche the other night. It was pretty healthy, besides the store bought crust, which you can see a picked off the sides and ate before I even cooked it. It probably would have fallen off in the oven and caught something on fire, so I was just taking precautions...

Dessert oatmeal. Well, actually I had it for dinner last night. It contained oats, cocoa powder, SF maple syrup, strawberries, banana, and PB.

Sickening

http://video.aol.com/video-detail/hulk-hogan-family-jail-tapes-on-nancy-grace-part-2-of-4/2232205718
http://www.aolcdn.com/tmz_audio/bolleajailcallpart2_1-2.mp3

Dear Nick Bollea/Hogan,
Glad to see you show remorse for turning your friend into a vegetable. You're right! You definitely don't deserve to be in solitary confinement. I think it would definitely be more suitable a punishment to throw you in with the rest of the prison population. After all <STRIKE>you were drunk and street racing</STRIKE> it was just a car accident. Also, I'm sure that after hearing this tape, the judge will for sure decide to downgrade your punishment to house arrest. I mean, you haven't walked farther than 10 feet since you've been there! I bet your vegetable buddy and his family are totally feeling for you. Oh, but he was a "negative person" and is being punished by God. So I guess if that's the route we're going, you are in jail because you are being punished by God. Right?

P.S. Good luck on your post-jail reality show! I think "The New Nick" is a great name. I hope you're able to make massive amounts of money off of another family's pain.

Food, Finally

Here are some selected pics...

Feeding my mango addiction...

I'm obsessed with this bleu cheese/chicken/spinach salad combo lately.

A Push to Finally Update

I've been tagged! Sorry guys, I've been pretty busy lately and I've also been eating some pretty uninteresting meals. I'll post some highlights, but you definitely don't need to see everything I've consumed during the past week in one post.

But anyways...back to the "being tagged"...

RULES: (1) Link your tagger(s) and post these rules

               (4) Leave them a comment on their blog and let them know that they've been tagged!

I was tagged by Julz who I am so excited to see posting again

The Facts:

1. I HATE frogs. I am absolutely terrified and disgusted by frogs and toads. However, I have absolutely no problem with snakes, spiders, or other "normal" things people are afraid of. In fact, I can't remember the last time I killed a spider. Usually I just pick them up and move them outside. I think it all started when I was about 2 and a frog jumped out of nowhere and landed on my foot. It was a very traumatic experience.

2. I graduated from high school a year early. This isn't because I'm a genius or anything like that, I just decided during my junior year that I would do anything to be done with it ASAP. I was in a pretty crappy relationship my first 2 years, and my 3rd year I got fed up with the drama and decided I wouldn't benefit from all that much from taking the AP and honors courses I had signed up for my senior year. I had already completed all my requirements except for 1 English class, so I took it online. When my mom and I met with my principal to discuss me graduating a year early, he refused. I ended up getting a diploma from some school in Maine. Hey, I was able to get into multiple colleges with it! Don't get me wrong though, I love school and have been very passionate about many of the classes I've taken. I really wish I had the flexibility in college to take a wide range of classes that I'm interested in, but unfortunately I can only afford to take ones relevant to my major.

3. My sister and I have the same birthday. May 13. The day she was born was my 2nd birthday, as well as Mother's Day. This is kinda cool, except for the fact that I have always had to share a birthday and it has never really been my day. Oh, and I was also born on Friday the 13th.

4. When I was in 3rd grade, my family and I moved to Idaho for a year so my dad could build a house for my aunt and uncle. My dad left a few months before me, my mom, and my sister. Then the rest of us took a train from NH to ID, which took 3 days. We lived in a pop-up camper until winter, when we moved into the partially built house. The town we lived in was called Waha, and was about 40 minutes away from any type of civilization. My uncle, who was helping my dad build the house, lived out of hs VW bus with his girlfriend. It was a really fun and crazy experience, but I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it if I was any older.

5. I tend to memorize numbers and whatnot without realizing it. For some reason, my head is filled with license plate numbers, phone numbers, nutrition information, and serial numbers. Most of it is pretty useless.

6. One more- I cannot deal with having dry skin. I also hate it when my fingertips feel dry. When I was younger, I used to constantly lick my fingertips, which my parents were starting to really worry about (at least I'm also a hygiene freak). I also put lotion on about 30 times a day.

I'm tagging Kootz, Cassie, Richelle, Ashley, and Ann

Not My Day

First I woke up with a sore throat and headache. At 3am. I've been driving chris to work this week, which entails getting way before a lot of people go to bed.

So since I didn't feel good and hadn't used up my 1 excused absence from class, I decided to stay home and relax.

As soon as I got on the computer and signed into my school account, I realized that I overpayed my tuition that was due last night by $1000. That $1000 was part of a home equity loan. Not good.

So I call up student services and ask them to cancel the payment. It turns out I have to drive all the way to campus just to sign a form. So I did.

Then they informed me I needed the loan account number, which they had told me on the phone I wouldn't need. I didn't have it with me.

So I ripped the form out of the stupod lady's hand and booked it back to my apartment. Apparently there is a very limited amount of time that I can do this, the wonderful lady informed me.

When I got home I filled out the rest of the form and convinced the guy in the office at my apt. complex to fax it for me. While he was doing that, I ate a chocolate cookie, which was amazing. No wonder most of the people who work in the office are, well, heavyset.

After that I called my sister to see if she got her birthday present that was supposed to be shipped 2 weeks ago. She hadn't.

I called amazon. Apparently it got lost. Lost??? Where exactly do packages end up when they are "lost?" So I talked to either a machine or human. I honestly couldn't tell. He/it put in a request for a replacement.

Then I realized my Teachers and the Law final was due tonight online. I hadn't really read the book, any of the handouts, or a single powerpoint. It took me about 4 hours to complete the 50 questions, seeing as I had to look up every single answer. Ohh and there were some really tricky ones in there. Like "Is it legal to have sexual relations with your high school students?" Apparently my high school teachers never took this class.

Craziness

I swear I've tried posting several times in the last few days. Actually, I didn't get a pic of anything yet today. I ate some strawberries and kiwi this morning and a pb cracker pack during class. When I got home I made a salad with some leftover chicken from last night.

I've been getting some sort of workout in most days. I also have been adding an extra 2-3 miles of walking to campus each day.

Genius

No pictures right now. Chris just mopped the kitchen floor. I woke up and walked into the kitchen in my uncaffienated state and witnessed this. It really threw me off.
EDIT: My camera is in the kitchen. That's where I was going with this...

So when Kelly mentioned the people who read novels on the treadmill a few days ago I could totally relate. I HATE those people. I tried to bring a book into the gym a couple weeks ago. I read the cover and that's it. The bike was okay to read on, but I started getting a headache. The elliptical made me extremely motion sick. The treadmill...seemed like a death wish. I'm not one of those people who walk at 1.5 mph on the treadmill. Those people also drive me crazy, especially when I'm waiting for a turn on it.

So I decided to outsmart those novel-reading treadmill sprinters. I got the brilliant idea a couple days ago. Audio Books. That's right. While all those people are risking their lives by reading 600 page, 6 point font real books, I'm safely listening to my book on my ipod. Genius.

My workout yesterday consisted on 30 minutes on the bike and 20 minutes on the treadmill. I did some ab exercises on my living room floor while my dog attacked me. Probably because I was using his giant purple ball. I really need to get a stability ball.

Dreaded Weakend

Usually I don't mind weekends. I have a pretty easy time writing papers, but I'm insanely jealous of all the people who don't have to take summer classes and are at the beach, or even working.

My eating habits have been kinda crazy lately. Today I even slept through lunch time.

Yesterday I decided I'd rather have some time to breathe in the morning than go for a run. I started my morning with a bowl of oatmeal with banana and pb.

I had another banana for a snack after class before working out. I have to eat these things quickly because they're going bad really fast lately. Or maybe I should just not buy the biggest bunch I can find.

I made a salad for lunch after my workout. I had some spinach, tomato, leftover chicken, bacon bits, and reduced fat bleu cheese. It really was healthier than it sounds. I didn't go overload with the bacon and bleu cheese because a little bit adds a lot of flavor. I used a rasberry vinagrette.

For dinner last night I had some lasagna (frozen meal, but not bad tasting) with salad.

This morning I ran 4 miles, which included climbing over fences and dodging sheep. BEAT THAT.

Repeat breakfast this morning. Oatmeal, banana, pb.

When I got home from class today I had a banana and some carrots for a snack. I planned to go do a workout in the gym after that, but then Chris called me to let me know he was out of work, and I went to pick him up, since we're sharing a car this week.

When we got back I changed into my workout clothes. Then I fell asleep. When I woke up 3 hours later I wasn;t really in the mood to work out anymore.

For dinner I had a simple tuna sandwich and salad.

And DON'T WORRY. I made up for those calories I missed by sleeping through lunch and had a couple bowls of rasberry chocolate cheesecake ice cream.

Cake!

Lemon cake with lemon frosting. Got to start my birthday with 4 1/2 hours of class. Yup, one class that goes for 4 1/2 hours. And another 45 minutes of driving and 25 minutes of walking just to get there. I don't mind the walking part though, it helps me burn of the steam that builds up while sitting in rush hour traffic.

The worst part of taking summer classes is how little time I have to run in the morning. Since I have to leave at 6:45 and it's not light out until 5:30, I have to cram a really quick and rushed run in, which I hate. The last two mornings I ran 4 miles before having to get ready to leave in record time.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I've just been crazy busy, and because of that, my eating has been really boring anyways.

For breakfast yesterday I had a smoothie. I hate my blender because it does not crush ice. It doesn't even break ice at all. The "ice crush" button doesn't even work. So I had a very chunky smoothie.

Do you love the place mats, napkins, and napkin rings my mom sent me for my birthday?

For lunch yesterday I made a pizza melt thingy on a whole wheat small tortilla with tomato sauce, chicken, broccoli, garlic, and cheese.

I probably went overboard on the cheese. Sometimes I forget that when it melts, it actually spreads out and kinda takes over.

For dinner last night I had scrambled eggs (1 egg, 2 whites) with veggies, pumpernickel toast ( 1 with light cream cheese, one with smart balance) and half a grapefruit. I have so many grapefruits I could feed an army. Grapefruits probably aren't good army food, however.

I haven't figured out the secret to making light, fluffy scrambled eggs. They always taste fine, but could use some improvement in the appearance category.

Breakfast this morning consisted of a cracker pack and about 12 crystal light hard candies. I was in a hurry, and I figure no one can criticize me for not eating perfectly healthy on my birthday!

Lunch was a can of chicken tortilla soup. I was starving when I got home, probably due to my unsubstantial breakfast, and this was the fastest healthy thing I could come up with.

This afternoon I munch on some carrots and a pria bar I grabbed while at the store. I'm getting dinner with some friends at cafe rio tonight. I'm not sure what I'll get there. It's taco Tuesday there (cheap tacos), but I'm also contemplating getting a taco salad. Any suggestions? I've only been there once and I like the chicken tacos, but they aren't too exciting. I like my tacos loaded with all sorts of stuff, but they only have meat, cheese, and a tiny bit of lettuce in them I think.

Chris is supposed to be making me a cake for tonight, so we'll see how that goes...I'll definitely post a picture of it later!

Every Other Saturday...

Is free brunch at my apartment complex...

I love how much fruit they have.

And some food from the past couple days...

Grilled veggie slices "cheese", tomato and basil on pumpernickel

Hot chocolate...probably had the A/C on too high

Salad from spicy pickle...it was okay, not one of my favorite things from there, but I wanted to try it

Peanut butter and jelly sandwich...best food ever

Veggie slices "cheese", turkey, tomato, and spinach in a tortilla with a couple pringles. I ran 4 miles around the field, with the intention of running more, but while I was running I noticed that there was a Police Forensics Unit van parked outside my apartment. I'm an extremely nosy person, so I had to cut my run short and went to check it out. I didn't find anything out of course...Right before I started running I saw a HUGE snake (like 5 feet long), which made my heart race before I even starting running. That probably means I burned more calories, right?

After my run I went over to the gym and did 30 minutes on the stat. bike and then 10 min on the elliptical followed by some weight stuff and ab exercises.

Then I was all set to go run a few errands, and I got in my car and it WOULD NOT START. I think the battery is dead, but I didn't even leave any lights on, so that probably means something is broken. Wonderful.

Anyways, last night I made some potato salad with FF italian dressing, light mayo, and dill. It pretty much had no flavor because my dill is pretty old and flavorless. That's what happens when you buy an already filled spice rack at Walmart. I also made myself a veggie burger and Chris a chicken sandwich.

Chris: Why didn't I get a pile of leaves on my plate?

Me: That's spinach, and you didn't get any because you wouldn't eat it.

Chris: Maybe with some croutons I would...

Me: No, you would just eat the croutons.

Chris: Well, why didn't I get any croutons?

This was right after he attempted to lft the top bun off of my veggie burger with his TOE just to see what I was eating. After all, it wouldn't be fair if I got something better than him and was hiding it.

Oh, and THANK YOU KELLY! I got my cereal sample (that you posted the link to) in the mail last night...

It was okay tasting, but I get excited over any kind of free anything.

Tastes like...tofu

This morning I had the genious idea of putting tofu in my smoothie. I was all out of yogurt and needed some other source of protein, and I had this tub of tofu that was just lasting me forever. So I grabbed a chunk of it and put it in the blender with some blueberries, strawberries, and milk. It was very blue, but apparently I didn't put enough fruit in it, because it tasted like plain tofu. Which is fine, if I was eating it for lunch or something, but in a smoothie it tasted a little off.

Oh yeah, and before this little breakfast adventure I ran 5.5 miles, did 15 minutes on the stat bike, and then some weights.

Smoothie with some toast/jam.

After breakfast I had to drive all the way to Tempe to hand in my final paper for Pilates (which I wrote this morning-luckily I can crank out a pretty decent paper in very little time...). After that I went to the library and returned my 3 foot stack of children's books that I had to get this semester. By the time I finally got home I was starving and very dehydrated since we ran out of water last night. Somehow it became my job to drive down the road to fill up the 5 gallon containers and lug them up the 40 stairs to our apt. Hmmm.

When I got home I decided to try one of the grapefruits we got yesterday. It was amazing by the way. I highly reccomend taking free fruit from strangers.

Then I hopped back in my non-air-conditioned car to fill the water thing up. I had a bowl of cereal with bananas when I got back. I ate half of it before I took a picture. Oops. An hour later I had some carrot sticks.

For dinner I dug through my freezer and came up with this meal: scallops in lemon butter sauce, pasta, freezer burned veggies, salad, and italian bread. I should mention that EVERYTHING in my freezer is crammed into the shelves on the door. I came home to find it that way on Saturday. An enormous box of otter pops is occupying the other space. Like hundreds of otter pops. So in an attempt to get my freezer back, I had an otter pop for dessert. This is probably the only flavor that I don't think tastes like nail polish remover.

Strangers Have The Best Food

Rich strangers, giving away free citrus fruits, that is. The "free" section of craig's list is the best. Most of the stuff listed on there I'd never touch, but sometimes you find something great, like today. I found someone giving away oranges, nectarines, and grapefruits, so I called the number, and since they didn't have an axe murderer voice, I dragged Chris out to go get them with me. I expected it to be someone on the side of the road with carboard boxes filled with fruit, but instead it was a huge beautiful house with about 100 citrus trees in the yard. So I followed Chris around with a few plastic bags while he jumped up and down trying to reach the fruit.

Other than this, my day was pretty uneventful and boring food-wise. I did eat about 5 of the little nectarines and they were amazing. For breakfast I toasted some fresh bread chris brought home the other day and spread some peanut butter on top. For lunch, I had some spinach salad and pizza. For dinner, a bowl of scooters with banana.

Well, I'm off to write my final paper of the semester for my pilates class...

Friday

I actually got to lay out at the pool and read my book after my workout . I did 45 minutes of cardio followed by weights for my workout. The book I'm reading right now is The Woods by Harlan Coben and it's really good. Unfortunately, I managed to sunburn my lips. Now this would have been easily avoidable if I wasn't allergic to almost all chapsticks (I have to use vasoline), so I can't really use ones with SPF.

I wasn't starving for lunch since I had been laying out in the sun, so I had some plain yogurt and strawberries. I decided I was huvngry again when Chris came home from with some fresh baked bread...but I think the smell would have made anyone hungry. So I had a small piece of that and an oatmeal cookie. Then I had some air-popped popcorn...lots of snacks, but a small lunch.

For dinner I had a turkey burger on a potato bun. Not whole wheat, I know, but I had to get these since I loved potato bread when I was a kid. Then I had more yogurt and quaker oatmeal squares.

I had to go to the store to buy milk, and ended up picking up a few other things. Of course, I forgot the milk. But I got this gigantic 2 pound thing of strawberries!

Then, I was going to clean. But I realized I couldn't clean yet, because I just had to make cookies. No sense cleaning right before making a mess in the kitchen. This is my first ever intentionally vegan baking project. Vegan oatmeal raisin cookies.

This is one, of the many, that ended up in my stomach. Oh, and I ate quite a bit of batter, since it was safe with no eggs. You know, since that always stops me from eating regular batter.

For dinner, I decided to be adventurous and make potstickers (dumplings?) and tofu veggie stir fry. The potsticker thingies just had chopped veggies in them and a little leftover chicken. I steamed them in a pan. The boyfriend even liked them, after he drowned them in soy sauce.

Today should have been relaxing. Except that my DirecTV bill was $360 instead of 59.99 and I had to call the bank to bitch about the fact that they keep reopening accounts I've closed. Oh, and the Qwest/directv lady who services my apt complex hasn''t been answering the phone for the past 2 days. So I just keep leaving oh-so-friendly messages.

Day Off...Sort Of

It was so nice to have NO classes and NO interning today! I still had to drop off some forms to my teacher and I have a paper due for pilates on monday, but I'm not really stressing about that. I even finished reading a book today, that I've been working on for while now (Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picault...it was really good).

I went for a run this morning, but got a late start and it was already pretty hot. I only did 4 miles and I was dehydrated the whole time. I wish I had just gone to the gym instead... Hopefully tomorrow I'll get an earlier start and a longer run.

For breakfast after my run I had a smoothie, which was way more refreshing than something hot. I also had some quaker oatmeal squares while I was making it.

For lunch I made a chicken salad sandwich with some leftover chicken, celery, miracle whip, and mustard on whole wheat bread.

I snacked on some more quaker oatmeal squares this afternoonm which managed to escape the camera. For dinner I made some vegetarian bbq riblets and they were way better than I thought they'd be. I licked the extra sauce from the pouch... I had some corn and salad on the side. I don't eat much corn, but I though it was something you eat with anything bbq.
